EF 1 tornado confirmed in Mayfield

MAYFIELD, KY (KFVS)- The National Weather Service in Paducah confirmed an EF1 tornado hit parts of Mayfield, KY at 6:35 am Sunday morning.

People in Mayfield, Kentucky are trying to clean up the best they can after Sunday morning storms damaged several buildings.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, several metal businesses in Mayfield have parts of their roofs gone due to high winds Sunday morning.

NWS officials say the scoreboard at high school football field has damage and is partially blown over.

Also, several trees and power lines were blown down.

Graves County Sheriff Redmon says one man was flown to Vanderbilt hospital after debris was blown through his back door.?There's no official word on the extent of his injuries.

Also, the sheriff says there is property damage in the city limits and western limits of the city. And, several cars were moved around and straight line winds are a possibility, but the weather service will investigate.

Redmon says several roofs are damaged and one home on Fairview Drive is inhabitable after winds blew the home's roof off.

Also, he says part of a wall was blown off the Community Center. There is also damage at Lions Club Park.

No word on if anyone was injured.
